After four decades, we are proud to have earned our reputation as a premier salon and spa.

Since 1975, when Ladies & Gentlemen was a tiny space with three staff members, we thought of changing the world of beauty by building a staff of people who work as a team, and who truly love not only making their customers beautiful, but who are also committed to mentoring their colleagues.

Strong relationships with clients, stylists, students and the community is the foundation of Ladies & Gentlemen. Rooted in family values, the salon was founded by husband and wife, Ed and Nancy Brown. Now commemorating forty years, they have continued to forge and grow relationships and have carried those same values into their academic operations. 

“We still think of ourselves in the same way that we did 40 years ago. Each experienced staff member is the teacher to the brand new assistant. Teamwork is born through this process. Loyalty to each other, to our company and legendary customer service is the outcome we seek,” states Ed Brown.

Ed and Nancy credit their original mission to prioritizing customer service and to building strong relationships as the key to their success and growth. The Ladies & Gentlemen family now includes over 250 employees working at salon and spa locations in Mentor, Legacy Village and Chicago. The Browns are so passionate about their loyal family of stylists and professionals, and they saw the need to educate others in order to give students the same opportunity to thrive and grow, and extended beyond salons into education.

They now boast three Aveda Institutes in Mentor, Rocky River and Austintown, Ohio.

A unique and rare concept is that all of the salons are non-tipping salons, and the Ladies & Gentlemen Salon and Spa experience includes a complimentary scalp massage, a hand and arm massage, an aroma facial towel and a makeup touch-up. This is yet another way they demonstrate the value placed on relationships and the customer experience. 

It’s these small but essential details that separate Ladies & Gentlemen from the rest, and give each customer the feeling that they are appreciated, valued and treasured as a member of the family.
